SC Vianense loses the title but remains leader of the Portuguese Championship
Sport Clube Vianense, leader of series A of the Portuguese Championship, faced, this Sunday afternoon, at Estádio Dr. José de Matos, FC Tirsense, ranked second, in a game of the 16th round of the competition. After the defeat (3-1) last week in Vilar de Perdizes, the team from Viana do Castelo lost again (0-1) in the competition.
The team coached by Carlos Fernandes suffered in the 10th minute following a corner kick, in a move that left many doubts (whether or not the ball completely crossed the goal line). Protests were of no avail to those of the home team and Júlio Alves’ goal was even validated (0-1).
The match between the top two in the championship was very disputed, but Vianense had several opportunities to score and to at least draw the match.
The mistake at the time of finishing ended up punishing the men from Viana do Castelo with a second consecutive defeat in the competition.
Thus, Tirsense and Amarante are approaching the leadership of the championship.
SC Vianense, Futebol SAD is still ahead with 35 points, Tirsense is second with 31 and Amarante third with 30 points.
Also noteworthy is Desportivo de Monção, Vianense’s next opponent, who lost (2-1) at Dumiense.
