PTI organizes rally in Bannu against the desecration of the Holy Koran in Sweden – Newspaper
LAKKI MARWAT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf youth council, Bannu branch, on Saturday demonstrated against desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
Council President Ishaq Khan led a meeting that emerged from the party’s office in Bannu city and met outside the press club after passing through various bazaars.
The demonstrators burned Sweden’s flags and condemned the burning of the Holy Koran.
Speaking on the occasion, Ishaq Khan, Hazrat Ali Khan, Malik Shaizullah Khan, Naser Khan and others condemned the sacrilegious act.
They said no one could be allowed to carry out such blasphemous acts and target Muslims and their values under the guise of freedom of expression.
They asked the government to break diplomatic ties with Sweden and expel the Swedish ambassador from the country.
SPORTS FACILITIES: Players and officials of sports organizations have asked the district administration to look into the substandard leveling of a football field and competition tracks, and irregularities in the use of funds meant for the promotion of sports.
The demands were made during an open kitchen convened by Deputy Commissioner Aun Haidar Gondal on Saturday.
Bannu Regional Sports Officer Shafqatullah Khan and District Sports Officer Adil Shah were also present.
District Sports Association President Israr Bangash, General Secretary Mohammad Nizamul Haq and others said Bannu lacked proper sports facilities despite having a population of over one million.
On the occasion, Mr. Gondal announced the formation of a committee to inspect the football ground and race track projects and investigation fund utilization in the sports department.
He said work on a swimming pool and a cricket stadium would begin soon.
He directed to lease land located in front of the cantonment police station to the sports department to hold sports activities.
NOTICE: Lakki Marwat District Food Controller Aman Khan has issued a notice to the management of a flour mill in Darra Pezu town to explain the reasons for the delay in the supply of subsidized flour to retailers.
He said the department had received complaints about the mill’s involvement in delayed delivery of subsidized wheat flour to retailers as consumers had to wait for hours at the outlets to get the item.
BJUKOTT: Members of the Bannu Bar Association on Saturday boycotted courts to protest the government’s failure to demolish the dilapidated bar room building.
Talking to journalists, the association’s chairman Malik Noorzada Khan told the Advocate that the old building in the bar room had been declared dangerous, but it was not demolished. He asked the authorities to construct a new building with a bar room.
OPERATION: Security forces continued to strike hideouts of terrorists in the forest along the Kurrum River in Lakki district for the third day on Saturday, official sources said.
Meanwhile, mobile phone service remained suspended in the areas for the third day, disturbing residents.
