Born in Martina Franca and raised in Locorotondo, Fausto Corbo he distinguished himself from early childhood for his piano talent which led him to undertake musical studies first in Italy at the Conservatorio “N. Piccinni” in Bari, then in Switzerland at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève. Since 2001, in parallel with his piano activity, he has begun to devote himself to choral conducting with flattering acclaim from the public and critics. From 2002 he trained at the Musikhochschule Luzern with Alois Koch, while in 2005 he graduated in choral conducting with honors. At his final concert, he received a special award from the ‘Odd Fellows’ association in Lucerne as the ‘best graduate’. Soon after, he was appointed artistic director of the Luzerner Mädchenkantorei, a position that gave him the opportunity to collaborate with the great orchestras of Switzerland, including Luzerner Sinfonieorchester and Collegium Musicum Luzern.
In 2008 he undertook conducting studies with Ralf Weikert, graduating in 2010 with honors again from the Hochschule Luzern-Musik. He completed his conducting training collaborating with conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Karl Anton Rickenbacher, Manfred Huss, Dejan Savic, Julius Kalmar and Uroš Lajovic at the Universität für Musik u darstellende Kunst in Vienna. Following this experience, orchestral conducting assumed a central role in his artistic career.
Among the collaborations with Orchestras of various European countries such as Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Bulgaria, the recent ones are especially numbered with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Ruse at the Petruzzelli Theater in Bari, where he took care of the assistance for the production of Strauss’ Salome , the Philharmonic Orchestra of Burgas who conducted Mozart’s Don Giovanni in the theater of the same name, the regional orchestra Filarmonia Veneta and the Haydn Sinfonietta of Vienna.
In 2010 he participated in the ‘Pedrotti’ Competition in Trento, where he was noticed by Gustav Kuhn, who then invited him as guest conductor to conduct the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento for a series of concerts in the 2011/2012 season. In 2011 he was the winner of the international selections for orchestra conductors, organized by the Opera Verona association, for the opera Le astuzie nuove by Cimarosa in collaboration with the Kioi Hall in Tokyo. An indirect disciple of the great Viennese School of Hans Swarowsky and the inspired guidance of Ralf Weikert – in turn a pupil of the unforgettable Austrian conductor – he is appreciated above all for his technique, communicative qualities and for his meticulous work of analysis of the score.
