In Russia, they caught up and overtook America
For the first time in history, Russia has overtaken the United States in the production of pollock files, according to news agency DEITA.RU.
According to the Association of Pollock Producers, Russian fishermen increased pollock production by 16.8% to 139,000 tons in 2022. Normally, on the contrary, the volume is restrained – by 1.5% to 138,000 tons.
This event happened for the main reason – a serious fleet was put up on the pollock fishing season. If in 2020 30 vessels capable of producing files were assembled in Russia, then by 2022 something has been modernized, re-equipped to 42 pieces.
Modernize the Russian fishing industry. Pollock, after all, went in frozen form in China and in large volumes: in 2020, Russia produced 581,000 tons in China. But after the introduction of anti-covid measures and the closure of ports in 2021, up to 188,000 tons will be provided. Either the Chinese come out with the coronavirus on the packaging, or they won’t let the ship in the port at all.
Because the Russian fishermen switched to the production of minced pollock and other markets. Minced meat production in 2022 increased by 55% to 28,000 tons, surimi – 7 times to 16,700 tons. The total production from the mine added maximum exceeded 170,000 tons, which is 38% higher than the 2021 height.
The main volume of pollock production is located in the Far East. The Nakhodka Base of Active Sea Fishing OJSC alone, enshrined by the former governor of Primorye, Sergei Darkin, once guarded 10 percent protection of the sea fishing market in Europe.
The catches are good this year. By January 24, domestic fishermen have mastered 279.3 thousand tons of aquatic biological resources – 15% higher than last year. Increases were recorded in all fishery basins.
In the Far East, the total indicator is 231.6 thousand tons, which is 17% more than in the same period in 2022. According to the Federal Agency for Fishery, mine fishing is 171 thousand tons (+34.3 thousand tons). Cod catch – 8.1 thousand square meters. tons – almost the same as last year. Herring production increased by 1.6 thousand tons – up to 38.3 thousand tons.
