Frankfurt: Because fines are imminent: now the climate chaos are begging for donations | Regional
Frankfurt – 22 climate chaos occupied the Fechenheimer forest for two years, built tree houses from bulky waste, fought for two and a half days against the eviction. Now there are high fines, clean-up costs, etc. for this protest.
Up to 1,000 police officers, a 300-ton crane, half a dozen cherry pickers were in action, and Autobahn GmbH had to build a metal fortress out of 66 seagoing containers so that the construction machinery would not be damaged by the climactic chaos. None of this would have been necessary without the squatters and protesters.
Fines, legal fees, garbage disposal
Any squatter who has to be carried out of the forest faces a fine for trespassing. Because the 2.7 hectare cleared area plus the 4.9 hectare additional security zone were officially approved restricted areas.
In addition, some climate chaos fighters defended themselves against the police officers, they kicked them, threw them. Also charges of attacking law enforcement officers and dangerous bodily harm. A total of 15 climate chaos is determined. Of these, 4 are men, 2 are women and 9 are miscellaneous.
In their Telegram channel “Stop Riederwald”, where only a few days ago a little Internet picture that downplayed Holocaust, racism and slavery was posted (BILD reported), the climate chaos are now begging for donations. They write: “SOS! We collect money for legal costs, fines etc.
They call it the “cost of repression”. They see themselves as victims of the state, which wants to suppress their criticism with fines.
That’s why the climate chaos and supporters took to the streets on Saturday. A black-clad and hooded troupe loudly marched through downtown, chanting, “We’re angry! Every eviction has consequences.”
It’s about this forest
The Fechenheimer Forst had been occupied by self-governing environmentalists since last year, 22 persevered in their tree houses and tent castles in the middle of the forest.
According to Frankfurt’s environment department head Rosemarie Heilig (65, Greens), 97 percent of Frankfurt’s city forest is broken – this includes the Fechenheimer forest.
For the 1000 trees that are taken from the 230 meter long and up to 140 meter wide piece of forest, i.e. 2.2 hectares, 15.5 hectares of forest next to it will become primeval forest, where no tree will ever be felled again. 21 trees are left standing because the protected longhorn beetle could be in them.
Two and a half days were cleared, from January 18th to 20th. 25 squatters were taken into custody, and 15 climate chaotic people are being investigated.
A total of 65 administrative offense proceedings were initiated.
