Croatian politicians receive 1,500 euros in pension – the average pension is less than 400 euros
In January of this year, former members of parliament, ministers and constitutional judges received a pension that averaged around 1,500 euros (11,300 kuna), which is 800 kuna more than in January last year, it says. danica.hr. While the average pension in Croatia in January was 381 euros, that is, about 1,100 euros less than the pensions of politicians and high-ranking civil servants.
This is revealed by new data from Croatian Pension Insurance Instituteaccording to which a total of 684 people from this category of former high officials received pensions in January.
In January, a total of about 1.23 million pensioners received their pensions, which is about 5,000 pensioners less than a year before.
According to the Pension Insurance Act, 1.13 million pensioners received their pension in January, and their average pension amounted to 381 euros or about HRK 2,870. Last year in January, the average pension in that category was around HRK 2,650. Today, therefore, it is HRK 220 higher. Data show that almost 200,000 pensioners in Croatia today receive less than 270 euros, or less than 2,034 kuna.
On the other hand, at the beginning of January there were a total of around 1.61 million employed in Croatia (employees by all bases and categories), which is around 36,000 more employed than at the beginning of January last year. Therefore, there are 1.31 employees for one pensioner.
