Air pollution in Istanbul increased by 9 percent in 2022
According to the quality compiled from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Air Measurement stations, the average image material (PM10) air pollution environment in Istanbul was measured as 38.2 µg/m3 (microgram per cubic meter) in 2021. Air pollution, which was 41.5 µg/m3 in 2022, increased by 9 percent compared to previous years.
Last year, Göztepe was the station where substance air pollution was measured the most in Istanbul with 97.6 µg/m3. This was followed by Sultangazi 3 with 95.4, Sultangazi 2 with 63.6 and Esenyurt with 59.3 µg/m3 respectively.
In the same period, the station where the air pollution was measured the least was determined as 13.1 µg/m3 and Kandilli 1, the material air filter was 15.8 at Büyükada station, 24.4 µg/m3 at Sarıyer station and 25.1 µg/m3 at Şile station.
The rate of air strips in Istanbul increased at 25 stations in 2022 compared to the previous year, but decreased at 9 stations.
Last year, Kumköy took the first place among the stations where air pollution spreads the most compared to 2021, with a change of 99.9 percent. Kumköy was followed by Göztepe with 57.5 percent, Çataltıkapı with 49.1 percent, Selimiye with 36.5 percent and Sancaktepe with 36.4 percent, respectively.
In the same period, Kandilli 1 was the highest loading station of the average air filter with 40 percent change. Kandilli was followed by Başakşehir with 19.7 percent, Sarıyer with 14.5 percent, Bağcılar with 13.5% and Yenibosna with 12 percent.
