For more than thirty years, the Festival Committee of Biéville-Beuville (Calvados) highlights the talents and passions inhabitants every two years with a two day exhibition in the multipurpose room. Hervé Charlot, its president, announces a dozen exhibitors this year Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November 2023.
A passion for beetles since high school
Among them, Eric Andreresident of Biéville-Beuville, will exhibit his insect boxes.
The passion came to me in high school when we were asked to create a herbarium and a collection. I have been on the lookout for beetles for 50 years now.
Over 3,000 specimens
Hikes in Guyana, Lebanon or simple walks, Éric always has a box in his pocket to capture small animals. “I snoop around, I look at the plants, the stones. The beetles are not dangerous. When I get home, I put them to sleep then I spread them out to dry. »
“Insects have an external skeleton, it is their shell. They keep their lively appearance, but become fragile and brittle. »
More than 3,000 copies are thus enclosed in glass boxes that Éric will exhibit at the Arts et Passions weekend: “It allows me to talk to people and show the beauty, variety, diversity and usefulness of insects. It also makes me want to travel. »
