The nicest pictures of the Oranjes in the Caribbean Netherlands
The Caribbean is very popular with the Oranges. They can often be found on the islands for royal visits or introductory visits. At the beginning of 2023, Princess Amalia will make her first working visit to the islands of Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Sint Eustatius, Sint Maarten and Saba. For this occasion we look back at the nicest photos of the Oranges in the Caribbean: from a dancing queen to a twenty-year-old Princess Beatrix.
Royal visit
The islands of the Caribbean Netherlands have welcomed many Oranges over the years. In 1965, Crown Princess Beatrix is in the Antilles for a three-week visit.
In 2011, Beatrix, Willem-Alexander and Máxima met the three of them on a visit to the Caribbean part of the kingdom.

In 2014, Princess Beatrix says goodbye as queen, and during her farewell tour she also visits the Caribbean Netherlands. The photos show that the princess is having a great time.

In 2015, Willem-Alexander and Máxima will visit Bonaire together. Here they attend festivities on the occasion of Día di Ricon.

Even after her farewell tour, Princess Beatrix can still be found regularly on the islands. Looks like in 2019 Saba and Sint Eustatius. In 2021 she will visit Curaçao.

Beatrix came, met poncho and all, on the examined Saba.
A helping hand
Even in difficult times, it is the Oranjes who visit the Caribbean Netherlands. Such is the Queen Beatrix visiting the islands in 1999 after being hit by Hurricane Lenny. The queen surprised the damage and provides support to the injured islanders.
Jubilees and festivities on the islands
In 1992 it’s party time! Queen Beatrix is celebrating her 12.5 year anniversary as queen. The party is also celebrated in the Caribbean part of the kingdom. Queen Beatrix visits the islands with her family. Prince Claus shows his sons the split slave houses in which slaves sleep after they worked in the salt pans. here salt was extracted from the sea water. The cottages were built in 1850. They served until 1863 when slavery was abolished in the Antilles. Princess Amalia will see these ‘slave huts’ as they are also called during this journey with her own eyes.

Party on Curacao in 2018: King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima pay a two-day visit to Curacao on the occasion of the celebration of Dia di Bandera, the Day of the Flag.

Royal acquaintance
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima and Willem-Alexander introduce themselves as a royal couple during a trip in 2013.

Queen Beatrix makes the same trip in 1980, together with Prince Claus.

In 1958, at the age of twenty, Princess Beatrix became acquainted with the islands. On this trip they also visit Fort Amsterdam in Willem, which is also planned for the introductory visit of Princess Amalia.
February 1958: At the age of 20, Beatrix visits the island of Aruba. There she is warmly welcomed by a cheering crowd.
In 1987, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, at the age of eighteen, paid an introductory visit to the Antilles, together with his parents Beatrix and Claus. What beautiful images to see again!
In 2002, Willem-Alexander and Máxima visited the islands as newlyweds.

We look forward to many beautiful photos in the weeks, now with Princess Amalia!
