Sanne Thijssen wins RAI Amsterdam Prize with Clarima
Sanne Thijssen drove a ride from the book with Clarima (s. Clarimo) in the 1.45m class right on time for the RAI Amsterdam Prize. The combination remained clear and set the interim time with 56.53 seconds. Leopold van Asten could with VDL Groep Miss Untouchable (by Chacco-Blue) Sanne couldn’t keep up and had to settle for second place with a time of 56.71 seconds. Julien Epaillard took third place with Donatello d’Auge (by Jarnac). The pair finished without jumping errors in 57.56 seconds.
With fast riders like Emanuele Gaudiano and Julien Epaillard as opponents, Sanne Thijssen had to give it all and a perfect round setup. “It went almost flawlessly,” says Sanne when her mare is back in the stable with the beautiful official blanket of the RAI on her back.
“Maybe we could have done one less canter jump towards the last fence. In my opinion it couldn’t be much faster. It is important with Clarima to keep the rust, because she herself is very fast. So I didn’t want to exaggerate. I wanted to do everything as gradually as possible. When I got loose, I watched three tests on ClipMyHorse, but I already had my plan ready.”
Second international competition
Sanne has only been driving Clarima for three months. “Her attitude and quality are abnormal. We’ve only just met, but things are going very well already. In Amsterdam I drove the second international competition with her. She’s been around the country many times. We have ridden national Grand Prix at 1.40m level.”
“The Chimney Must Smoke”
“The question is whether they can stay, because the chimney must of course continue to smoke. Some people will really like her, because I do too. Next week we will race in Spain. I think they will take some rosettes home with them.”
