Permanent exhibition opened in Innsbruck – Südtirol News
Innsbruck – At the Euregio Infopoint in Innsbruck, an interactive permanent exhibition documents the Euregio avalanche report, which is now five years old, and the major avalanche events since the First World War.
The cross-border Euregio avalanche report for the states of Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino was integrated into an interactive permanent exhibition at the Euregio Infopoint in Innsbruck due to its five-year existence. The history of major avalanche events since the First World War is also documented. The exhibition was officially opened yesterday.
The daily, joint, multilingual and cross-border Euregio avalanche report was first published in the 2018/2019 winter season. The winter season lasts an average of 160 days for the avalanche warning. The “www.lawinen.report” website is visited by around two million users each season. For the fifth anniversary, the Euregio Avalanche Report has now been integrated into the interactive exhibition at the Innsbruck Euregio Infopoint. Interested parties can not only call up current information on avalanche warnings, but also learn avalanche knowledge – from the avalanche danger level to the characteristics of avalanches and major avalanche events since the First World War. In addition, a multimedia quiz invites old and young at the end to test what they have learned on site.
“As a passionate ski tourer, I am particularly aware of the importance of the Euregio avalanche report in order to be able to offer the highest possible safety for winter sports enthusiasts away from the ski slopes,” emphasized Astrid Mair, Minister for Safety and Security of the Tyrol, at yesterday’s opening of the exhibition.
Thanks to the exhibition, the Euregio Infopoint in Innsbruck should also become a new meeting place for people from Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino and at the same time help to avoid avalanche accidents. The avalanche warning services of the Euregio, the Euregio team, Stephan Hofinger as curator and Martin Kofler from the Tyrolean Photo Archive Lienz-Bruneck (TAP), who contributed historical photos of avalanches in East Tyrol, worked on the project. More photos from the exhibition were made available by the Innsbruck City Archives, the Austrian Armed Forces, the Tyrolean Mountain Rescue Service and the Mederle Private Archives in Brixen.
The permanent exhibition Euregio Avalanche Report can be visited at the Euregio Infopoint in Innsbruck’s Wilhelm-Greil-Straße 17 from Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Further information on the Euregio avalanche report can be found at www.lawinen.report.
