Ignat refuted the data that Ukraine expects a batch of 24 fighter jets from the allies
The priority for Ukraine is the American F-16, although Kyiv is also considering the French Rafale and the Swedish Gripen.
The spokesman of the command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat denied the data of the Spanish publication that Ukraine expects a batch of 24 fighters.
“Ukrainian journalists translated from Spanish and it turned out that I reported that Ukraine wants to receive 24 F-16s. There were no applications! These things have a negative effect. The information is very sensitive. Partners don’t like it when you give something wishful thinking,” Ignat explained during the course.
namely, edition El País led to Ignat’s application that Ukraine intends to receive 24 units from partners fighters, primarily American-made. The publication, citing Ignat’s words, claimed that it was about two battalions of 12 aircraft each.
According to the Spanish publication, in the short term, the Armed Forces cannot fully count on these fighters on the battlefield for two reasons. The first of these are complex political negotiations on supplies, and the second is that training pilots and command ground service requires at least six months.
