Human torso found in basement of apartment building in Deurne: park investigates murder (Deurne)
Body remains were found in the basement of an apartment building on Bisschoppenhoflaan in Deurne on Friday evening. That the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office has been confirmed, that a murder investigation has been started. It was said to be a body, without head or limbs, that was in a traveling trunk. According to several neighbors, the basement of the building is a hot spot for drug users and other unwanted guests.
The police arrived at the building around 8 p.m. on Friday evening and immediately set up a safety zone. Later, the entrance to the building with ten apartments and a business was shielded with a tarpaulin. Garbage bags and a suitcase that were on the sidewalk were also shielded. Around 10 p.m., the forensic lab, the law doctor and the investigating judge arrived on site for further investigation.

The Antwerp park has confirmed that body parts have been found in a building on Bisschoppenhoflaan in Deurne. “Human remains were found in the basement,” says Lieselotte Claessens, spokeswoman for the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office. “An investigating judge has been advanced for murder who, together with the court, took a step back on Friday evening.”
The public prosecutor’s office decides not to communicate further for the time being in order not to make the investigation too reliable.

According to our information, the body remains were found when one of the residents wanted to move a closet to the basement. In his closet was an unknown suitcase. The bewildered resident found body remains in the suitcase. It would involve a human torso, an upper body without a head, arms and legs. The resident immediately informed the police.
A local resident says that the area around the apartment building is already strictly notorious in the area. “Some time ago we had a lot of nuisance from drug users who lingered in the basement, which is divided into several garage boxes. Last week I did not chase away any unwanted guests,” says the anonymous woman.
Another resident has discovered that the basement is a horrible dovecote with prostitutes, drug users and other indolents coming and going.
