As a youth he played for FC Bayern and RB Salzburg – now Hannes Ganghofer is starting a new chapter in the Geratal. District league club DJK-SV Geratskirchen found what they were looking for when looking for a coach and is breaking new ground for the new 2023/24 season with the 31-year-old long-time captain of the FC Töging state league team as player-coach.
“Hannes trained with us in the preliminary round. After he actually ended his playing career at the end of last season, he’s itching again. We are very happy that he is taking on responsibility and we will fully support him in his first coaching position,” reports SVG department head Matthias Heidt.

The squad of DJK-SV Geratskirchen is young, seven players are younger than 22 years. “These young players in particular can benefit from his enormous experience and tactical understanding. In addition, Hannes has a strong connection to our club: his wife and grandmother are from Geratskirchen and it is particularly important for us as a village club to have a trainer who integrates seamlessly into the community and identifies with our club,” says Heidt. Hannes Ganghofer will already give his player pass to Geratskirchen during the winter break and will be introduced to his new task as assistant coach by Hansbert Grötzinger in the spring round.
Gangster war in the B youth captain of FC Bayern
Hannes Ganghofer played for FC Bayern’s B-Juniors in his youth and was also captain there until Red Bull Salzburg took him to the youth boarding school. Then he switched to SV Erlbach in the 2010/2011 season, which at the time was still playing in the district league. His last station so far was FC Töging, with which he made it into the state league. He is now looking forward to the new challenge in the Lower/Upper Bavarian border region with great anticipation: “I am really looking forward to getting back into the football business in a new role. The cohesion of this young team is impressive and I will do everything to continue the positive sporting development of the last few years,” said Hannes Ganghofer.
Preparation for the spring round begins in Geratskirchen in mid-February, with a training camp in Croatia also being part of the program in order to work more comprehensively towards the goal of the season, which is possible in the club’s history to stay up in the district league.
