Andorra needs to provide more land and industrial water, and I dream of a dry port
Andorra wants to have more industrial land for companies that can arrive, especially in the Andorra Business Park (PEAN). Together with industrial and drinking water, the completion of the expansion of the residence and the remodeling of important streets, expanding the polygons is the priority of the City Council, which this week presented in a public hearing the master lines of the 2023 municipal budgets, endowed with with 12 million euros.
“We do not have a lot of industrial land for the initiatives that are being developed,” admitted the acting mayor, Joaquín Bielsa (PSOE), in relation to the green hydrogen and industrial diversification projects derived from the Mudéjar Knot. “We have to be agile and offer any urban figure that allows companies to access that land because we are taken care of,” he acknowledged.
In addition, the mayor spoke of water as “one of the conditions that can provide us with development or a slowdown in the economy of the region.” “We are going to do the rest -he added- with the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation and with the Ministry (for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge), both with the Ebro Water Raising”, the second phase resulted, and “from Guadalope” , taking advantage of part of the concession of 18 cubic hectometres that the Endesa thermal power plant had. On the other hand, “an operational train track would put us on the map,” he said in relation to creating a dry port at the foot of PEAN.
Projects
These are projects that will not be reflected to the letter in the budgets that the government team expects to approve next month, but to which the City Council aspires, which plans to approve in February the tender for the new water specifications for its concession to an external company for 10 years.
He also wants to promote the green areas and various works of the Municipal Brigade “to have gardens and municipal facilities better preserved and cared for.”
Bielsa also aspires to reorganize the municipal staff, prepare a list of jobs and cover the Local Police staff.
Juan Ciércoles (PAR), Works and Services delegate, explained that La Loma street will be remodeled, as well as Teruel avenue and Híjar street. A car park will be created in the cemetery and on a plot of land in Los Hortales, and a feasibility study will be carried out for the next phase of the residence and crematorium. Public lighting damaged by the hailstorm will be renewed.
Alba Galve (PSOE) said that she will continue working to promote employment through employment workshops and the promotion of female entrepreneurship.
Alejo Galve (PSOE) spoke about the modernization of the local television studios and the extension of programming hours, and said that the Los Jardines residence will be ready in April.
A gym circuit for the elderly will be installed in the Parque de la Solidaridad and an urban mobility plan will be developed, explained Antonio Planas (PSOE).
Budget
The budget for 2023 obtained again -because it has not been done in 2022- the improvement of the municipal sports center-, competence of Andrés González (Cs).
From the opposition, Silvia Quílez (PP) requested more data to analyze the draft budget and regretted not having the 2022 budget execution available. She asked why less amount has been budgeted for the repair of Teruel avenue than in 2022, when it didn’t run.
Raúl Romero (IU) asked for more police officers and, as Youth delegate, demanded the creation of a space for young people between the ages of 12 and 17.
David Villanueva (IU), delegate of New Technologies, said that the web portals will be renewed, in addition to launching an application for mobile devices with an alert system.
Antonio Donoso (Elijo Andorra), who does not hold any council, requested a study of all services, an investment calendar and that young talents be promoted so that they do not leave.
