what will change for the inhabitants
Anne Hidalgo responded to Fabien Roussel’s call for solidarity. The town hall of Paris will therefore be on strike on January 31, without impact on essential services according to the elected official.
The strike expected on January 31 as part of the opposition to the pension reform is also taking place at the town hall of Paris. Anne Hidalgo announced that the Town Hall will be closed “in solidarity with the social movement”.
The elected explained answered the call of the communist Fabien Roussel asking the town halls to symbolically close their doors on January 31. “The situation is much too serious”, argued Anne Hidalgo on Télématin this Friday. “If there is no social protection, then we have integrated societies that are too violent.”
“The Hôtel de Ville, the building as such, will be closed to the public as a gesture of solidarity”, explained the mayor of Paris. A situation that should not block access to certain essential services.
“Essential public services will be open”
The time of the demonstration against the pension reform, “the exhibitions, the administrative library, the shop of the tourist office” will be closed”, indicated the entourage of the mayor to BFMTV.
Community meetings are also cancelled. Agents are encouraged to telecommute as much as possible.
Anne Hidalgo, however, reassures: if the Town Hall will therefore be jointly on strike, certain public services will continue to be provided.
“Public services will of course operate in a slightly different way since there will be a lot of staff on strike, she explained on BFM Paris Île-de-France. But essential public services will be open.
Among the latter, civil status for example, which remains accessible to citizens. Weddings will also be insured, informed BFM Paris Île-de-France of the town hall of Paris.
“All public service activities that could be maintained will be maintained,” repeated the town hall of Paris. The stopover for homeless women remains open, as does the crèche and the school canteen.
The decision to close or not the town halls of the district is, on the other hand, left to the free appreciation of each of them. Some have already been announced of possible “disturbances” of certain services.
Posters deployed
On January 31, two posters will be displayed on the facade of the Hôtel de Ville building with the message “Town hall in solidarity with the social movement”, informed BFM Paris Île-de-France to the town hall.
On the opposition side, Anne Hidalgo’s decision was not well received. For Marie-Claire Carrère Gée, LR adviser from Paris, it is an “illegal decision” which “flouts the neutrality and continuity of public service”. Rachida Dati judged this action as a “gadget” measure
For his part, the Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt castigated on BFMTV / RMC a Paris town hall which “confuses municipal services with an annex of the PS”.
