Polanmaz Galina Vladimirovna and Platonova Irina Vasilievna – almost the same age. The difference between them is one year. The fate of women is one for two – they feel the blockade of Leningrad, living witnesses of the longest and most cruel siege in the military history of mankind. Galina Vladimirovna’s parents died in forty-two. On March 16, she will turn 84 years old, and Irina Vasilyevna – in May – 85 years old. She worked at various enterprises in Kolyma for more than 28 years. Awarded with the medal “Veteran of Labour”.
The veterans shared their memories of the besieged Leningrad, how everyone feels, young and old, worked in the rear, how many people died in the most terrible years from hunger and cold.

About the current women veterans who know how to win, who kill only positively. They are still full of energy, strength and readiness of youth with optimism, support and memory.
The deputies noted that those who endured the blockade, defending the Motherland, its independence, their tradition, culture, are distinguished by a special fortitude. The tests did not break them, caused by the occurrence of life difficulties with the manifestation of stamina.
Irina Vasilievna Platonova, for example, wanted to become a mentor for young people.
We will definitely take part in this project, perhaps in memory of the expected heroism and courage of upbringing in youth patriotism, and in May we will congratulate Irina Vasilievna on her 85th birthday,” Victoria Golubeva said.
Nikolai Yaroshchuk, for his part, thanked the veterans of the blockade, noting that the feeling of those who went through these difficult trials is the most real and effective.
“Of course, such an important date is an important occasion to pay tribute to the memory of those who died during the blockade, to pay attention to public roads to veterans, to those who survived and survived. This is for a long time. Live communication, it is piercing, intelligible and the most truthful. .
The battle for Leningrad was the longest in the course of the entire Great Patriotic War. It lasted from July 10, 1941 to August 9, 1944. On January 18, 1943, during the operation “Iskra”, the blockade of Leningrad was broken and the land connection of the physical body with the mainland was restored. On January 27, 1944, as a result of the military operation “January Thunder”, Leningrad was completely liberated from the blockade.
To commemorate the final lifting of the blockade of Leningrad, which lasted 872 days, a festive fireworks of 24 artillery volleys from 324 guns thundered.
