TOGETHER, Pirates and STAN in Prague want to have a coalition agreement ready next week
“We should be able to consolidate all the documents by the beginning of next week. We will work on this over the weekend. At the same time, some details need to be fine-tuned, but this does not prevent us from starting to prepare the documents so that we can send them to our internal party structures during the next week for further approval,” said representative Zdeněk Zajíček (ODS).
One of the considered forms of the new Prague council: ODS two seats, Pirates four
Among the documents are the draft coalition agreement and its annexes, namely the programmatic body of the new coalition, the mechanisms of its functioning or the provisions of individual representative committees. “The last appendix is of course the one that will contain the division of competences of individual members of the council,” said Zajíček. The parties have not yet decided on staffing.
The documents will still have to be discussed by the authorities of the individual parties. In the case of the Pirates, they must also be voted on by the regional forum. According to Mayor Zdenek Hřiba (Pirates), the latest date when the referendum can take place is Thursday, February 9. “But that would be very tense and we would tell the coalition partners the verdict in the morning at the assembly, which of course we want to avoid, so we are planning a more civilized schedule,” he said. The referendum, for which the Pirates need about a week, should start tentatively on February 2.
TOGETHER, the Pirates and STAN discussed the staffing of representative committees with the opposition ANO and Praha Sobě today. The number of committees will increase by five to 22, but the number of paid posts will not increase. “We did not talk about specific committees, but the principle of their division,” said Zajíček. There should be eight committee chairmen in total, Pirates and ANO four each, Praha Sobě three, STAN two and SPD one.
The stability of the Alliance crumbled. In Prague, a coalition on the government’s plan will probably be formed
In the past months, the parties disagreed, among other things, on the number of party representatives in the council. The Pirates and STAN were bothered by the original proposal of Spolu, according to which SPLU would have six representatives in the 11-member line, including the mayor. They also rejected the proposal to create the mayor’s square for investment. According to the Pirates and STAN, councilors’ parts of competence would thus be taken away, and together with the minority in the council, they would only add to the total number. Again, the effort of the Pirates, and originally also STAN, to have Prague on its own in the council was a hindrance.
The coalition TOGETHER won the municipal elections last fall, winning 19 mandates in the 65-member council. ANO ended second with 14 mandates. The third Pirates have 13 representatives and Praha Sobě 11 mandates. Five representatives belong to STAN, the sixth SPD won three mandates. The current coalition in Prague consists of the Pirates, Praha Sobě and the United Forces for Prague.
