Paying with a bank card or credit card is therefore primarily an extra service, says technical director Tjalling Smit of NS. However, it is useful to observe if you want to travel with your bank card. The NS asks passengers whether their cards can be removed from their wallets. If several passes are held near the gate, multiple payments may be made for the same trip.
