Cold wave leads Metro de Lisboa to open stations for homeless people
To help homeless people safely overcome the cold wave, Metropolitano de Lisboa, in collaboration with the Municipalities of Lisbon, Amadora and Odivelas, will leave five stations open during the night in order to allow reception.
The measure began in the early hours of January 24, Tuesday, and will last for an estimated five days.
The seasons that are open to receive people are those of santa apolónia (Blue and Green lines)East (Red line)Rossio (green Line)Reboleira (blue line) and Mister Stolen (yellow line).

Since Tuesday, basic conditions have been created, following the hygiene and safety rules imposed by the DGS. So, people have access to sanitary facilities and cleaning spaces.
Whole country goes through a wave of cold
Recycled hats and blankets are also being distributed – produced from the old work clothes of the Portuguese metro – to give some comfort on the cold nights that are making themselves felt.

On the 24th of January, Lisbon City Council activated the Contingency Plan for homeless peoplesomething that usually happens when minimum temperatures reach values equal to or less than 3°C for more than 48 hours.
Until January 29, the Integrated Support Device for Homeless People (DIAPSSA) will be operating in the Manuel Castel Branco Municipal Pavilion.hot meals, food and clothing are served.
