19.6 thousand street sodium lamps It was distinguished for LED lamps
19.6 thousand of obsolete sodium street lamps in Krakow was recognized as energy-saving LED lamps in 2024-2025, announced the Krakow City Hall. This change results in annual savings for the city’s inhabitants in the amount of approx. PLN 4 million.
As reminded in the Thursday edition, now over 30 percent. from 75 thousand luminaires for urban lighting of roads and sidewalks that make up modern LED lamps.
According to the recommendation, the replacement of the luminaire with LED will be carried out as part of a public-private partnership. 19.6 thousand were qualified for it. sodium luminaires were installed on 961 streets. Only sodium luminaires located along public roads with unique luminaires in the city center that are to be replaced under the Horizon program were eligible.
Currently, proceedings are underway regarding the classes of public road lighting (during which luminaires were qualified for replacement) and energy audits are being conducted in order to prepare materials for the public procurement procedure under the so-called competitive dialogue. As reported, the costs of maintaining the water level (including VAT, excise duty and distribution costs) were estimated at PLN 19.6 thousand. an energy-saving luminaire will amount to approx. PLN 4 million net per year. Assume capital expenditures for the replacement of such a number of luminaires at approx. PLN 30.4 million net.
In addition, under the Horizon program, it is planned to exchange approx. 10,000 pcs of stylized and historic sodium luminaires for the LED type in the very center of the city and green areas.
