ZDF is moving “Die Toten von Salzburg” at short notice.
Actually, a new episode of the crime series “Die Toten von Salzburg” should be shown on ZDF tonight. But the broadcaster has to postpone the film.
An episode of “Die Toten von Salzburg” was scheduled for 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday evening (January 25). It’s been canceled for today – and shortened for later broadcast.
The film has been postponed at short notice due to the live broadcast of the handball World Cup quarterfinals between France and Germany, a broadcaster said on t-online. The sporting event can be seen live on ZDF from 8:05 p.m.
It is unclear when the new episode of “Die Toten von Salzburg” WILL run for it. It just says at a “later time in the year”. Then viewers will see the autumn “Schattenspiel” without a performance by actor Florian Teichtmeister.
Episode nine without accused Teichtmeister
In the crime series, which ZDF produces together with the Austrian broadcaster ORF, he has played the leading role of Major Peter Palfinger in eight episodes since 2016. In mid-January, it was published that the 43-year-old Austrian was charged with possessing footage of child abuse. In February he has to answer in court. In episode nine, he will therefore no longer be seen on ZDF, as a broadcaster confirmed to t-online.
ZDF has shortened the latest episode of “Die Toten von Salzburg” by “the approximately 40-second final scene with Florian Teichtmeister”. The allegations against him have been known for a long time. That’s why he only made a brief appearance in the current episode, shot in spring 2022.
“Advice on further action”
In any case, ZDF will no longer show films and series with Teichtmeister for the time being. A spokeswoman for the dpa says: “After the conclusion of the court proceedings, we will discuss how to proceed.”
Teichtmeister’s lawyer said his client wanted to plead guilty and cooperate with the authorities. The police found tens of thousands of files depicting abuse by children and young people. Read more about it here.
