The “Tankodrom” on the road Prague – Kutná Hora is awaiting repair for 90 million crowns
The repair is expected to take about five months, the ŘSD is considering a detour route.
Another section of the damaged series of potholes and cracks in the roadway is to disappear from the I/2 road. In the spring, work will begin on the repair of the 4.3 kilometer section Mukařov – Kozojedy. According to the traffic census, around 11,000 cars pass by it every day.
The Directorate of Roads and Highways (ŘSD) has already selected a contractor, the contract for 91.88 million crowns excluding VAT was awarded to PORR. He will have 152 days for the entire construction. “The repair is caused by the unsatisfactory state of the road’s covering layers, which is broken by fatigue cracks in the tracks of vehicles, ruts, cracks from lack of connection and the age of the asphalt layers,” said Martin Buček from the RSD communication team.
In addition to the replacement of the structural layers of the road, the repair will also include the restoration of non-functional drainage of the road with the cleaning of ditches and the reconstruction or replacement of existing culverts. There will also be replacement of the existing arresting devices (guardrails), replacement and addition of guiding safety devices (direction posts) and restoration of horizontal traffic markings. Existing pedestrian crossings will also be modified.
Approximately 11,000 vehicles pass through the section daily. Given that one lane will always be closed during the repair, ŘSD is considering a detour of approximately six kilometers. The relevant road administration authority will have the final say.
