Prague 13 has expanded ZŠ Mezi Školami by two classes
Two new classes for approximately 40 preschoolers were created at the Mezi Škola Faculty Elementary School in Prague 13. The town hall created modern classrooms and facilities from unused spaces, and gave ten million crowns for construction improvements. Lucie Steinerová, spokeswoman for the city district, informed about it.
The City Hall created modern classrooms and facilities for the education of four dozen preschoolers with building modifications in the amount of 10 million crowns from unused spaces.
“We are constantly monitoring the capacity in kindergartens and primary schools and, together with the principals, we are looking for reasonable options to use the existing spaces effectively. Thanks to long-term planning and subsequent targeted activities, no child with a permanent residence in our district has to commute to another district,” said Prague 13 Mayor David Vodrážka (ODS).
“The extension is a great example of increasing the capacities of schools through their own projects. I continue to plan the construction of new schools in close cooperation with the education department of the municipality and investors of newly emerging housing complexes,” he added.
“During the extension, extensive demolition work was carried out on the original cage changing rooms, and comfortable classrooms for preschoolers were created in their place, including operating facilities, toilets, and a new playground was also added. After last year’s complete reconstruction of the athletics field, this is another big investment in our school,” summed up school director Petr Kubička.
“The past year has shown us that in some schools we can find unused spaces that we can adapt for additional classes and ensure sufficient capacity for primary and kindergarten schools with our own efforts. Both classrooms, newly equipped with floor teaching aids and toys, will become a detached workplace of the Zahrádka kindergarten, whose building unfortunately does not allow for an increase in capacity,” said deputy mayor Marcela Plesníková (ANO).
