San Marino at the first congress of the Mediterranean Colombophile Confederation
The head of the Traveling Doves department of the San Marino Association of Dove Owners and Amateurs (ASPAC), Matteo Grappa, was elected as President of the Confederation of the Mediterranean. Below is a press release from the San Marino Association.
Sport, hobbies and passions in general represent a cohesive moment between people who, even if they come from countries with different cultures, customs and languages, manage to dialogue peacefully by sharing ideas, experiences and emotions. Starting from this assumption, about 2 years ago, 4 pigeon-loving friends from different countries felt the need to find a way to improve dialogue and mutual understanding also in the world of racing pigeons. And so it was that in January 2019 the idea was born of setting up the Mediterranean pigeon-loving confederation, a “place” where an international forum could be created where the heads of the pigeon-loving federations of the Weights who insist on the Mediterranean basin meet and dialogue in order to promote and give greater impetus to this historic discipline. After about two years of intense work, 13 countries have joined immediately such as: Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, San Marino, Malta, Slovenia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, Jordan and Israel and many others will join short. After obtaining the official recognition of the International Federation, which took place last August, on January 20 in Torres Novas in Portugal, the first Congress of the Mediterranean Confederation was held where the delegates of the various member nations were able to discuss future projects and elect the own representatives. With great honor and satisfaction, Dr. Matteo GRAPPA was unanimously elected President of the Confederation as President of the Confederation.
This nomination makes the world of San Marino pigeon breeding particularly proud as, just a few years after its establishment, ASPAC represents a dynamic and significant reality both nationally and internationally. On this occasion, we would like to remind you that the III Sammarinese Pigeon Breeding Championship will be held on 4-5 February at the Sala Polivalente in Murata, which will assign national titles to enthusiasts of the various categories on display.
