Urban development: Systra wins two major contracts in Toulouse
Jean-Marc Devesa has just further strengthened Systra’s footprint in Toulouse, of which he is the Occitanie regional director. The Toulouse office of this engineering leader specializing in public transport and mobility has just been selected for two major urban development assignments. Systra won a Scheduling, Steering and Coordination (OPC) assignment for the urban redesign of the Matabiau sector, up to the outlying districts of the Quai d’Oc.
135 hectares in the city center to reinvent
This is the vast urban remodeling plan for the entire Matabiau district with the arrival of metro line C and a little later the high-speed line (LGV) Bordeaux – Toulouse by 2030. It is t works for Systra to design the design and works phases with the various project managers and especially the contracting authority: Europolia (Société Publique Locale d’Aménagement -SPLA-) of Toulouse Métropole and the Occitanie Region.
In concrete terms, 135 hectares of land are the subject of a guide plan, the key tool for managing the urban project laid out in seven functional zones built for housing, offices, shops, public facilities, parks and gardens… to transform this piece of town.
Heart of the district, Grand Parc Canal and Ile du Ramier
Systra also won a second OPC contract with Toulouse Métropole for the redevelopment projects for neighborhood centres, city center streets, squares and plots, as well as the ongoing redevelopments on the Grand Parc Canal (near the Canal de Brienne, the Canal du Midi, the Canal Latéral) and the Grand Parc Garonne (developments on the Ile du Ramier and the Garonne downstream).
Until 2026, Systra holds a framework agreement and will monitor all the assignments, in studies and in execution, in order to steer the organization of the inter-site phases. Systra’s Toulouse agency, which employs fifty people, was selected in 2016 to support, alongside Tisséo, the arrival of the third Toulouse metro line as prime contractor on the underground sections.
The support will run until the commissioning of line C. At the same time, Systra is also participating in the project management of the entire Réseau Express Vélo (REVe) in Toulouse Métropole.
