After a week at the training camp in Marbella, Spain, the pros are at the top of the table Red Bull Salzburg returned to Austria. On the Iberian peninsula could with Adam Stejskal, Samson Baidoo, Amankwah Forson, Lawrence Agyekum and Karim Konaté also present five youngsters who want to attack the Bundesliga team in the spring. While Baidoo, Agyekum and Forson were already able to gain experience in the first division in autumn, goalkeeper Stejskal and attacker Konaté have only been used for cooperation club Liefering and in the Mozartstadt youth league team. In Marbella she had every chance to convince head coach Matthias Jaissle of her skills.
Stejskal as the new number two
Young striker Konaté, who could be recommended for higher things in the past autumn season with ten goals in 14 2nd division games and five more goals in six Youth League games, scored in the 3-0 friendly win against Karlsruher SC at the end of the training camp a hit and looks at the “club page” very positively on the training days: “It was a very good training camp for the whole team, but especially for me. The team integrated me very well. That was probably the reason why I was able to book this personal success. I hope that I get playing time ‘upstairs’ and the opportunity to help the team in all three competitions.”
Goalkeeper Stejskal was also successful, playing one half in both the 2-1 win over Sparta Prague and the 3-0 win over Karlsruher SC, both times not conceding a goal. “Of course I’m very happy that I got the chance and kept two clean sheets. Hopefully it will continue like this,” says the 20-year-old backing from the Czech Republic, who after Nico Mantl’s loan in the spring is the new number two of the series champions will be. Defender Baidoo and midfielder Agyekum, who had one and three cases respectively in the autumn, also want to continue attacking. While Agyekum was in the starting XI twice, Baidoo made only one short appearance. The defensive professional was able to contribute a goal in the 3-0 win over KSC.
Forson wants to build on an Altach time
With the experience gained, the native of Graz wants to continue attacking in the spring: “I’m very happy that I scored my first goal! It’s a great opportunity for me to train with the pros. I can take a lot with me and will then show what I’ve learned in the youth league.” The 19-year-old Agyekum will be able to collect more appearances in the upper house: “My goal is to ‘bite’ here with the professionals and help to win the double to win! It was an intense training camp with good training camps.”
For offensive player Forson, on the other hand, it’s about building on his performances during his half-year on loan at SCR Altach and convincing Jaissle of his qualities. In Vorarlberg, the versatile youngster from Ghana scored one goal and five assists in 16 Bundesliga games, where he was mostly a regular in coach Miroslav Klose’s team. “The loan to Altach was primarily there to get playing time and get to know the Bundesliga. Now, of course, I want to get minutes here and become champion. The training camp was really fun,” said Forson.
