On the front doors of houses in Táboritská street in Prague’s Žižkov on Thursday, there was a notice about the movement of fake inspectors who identify themselves with a forged card from the Prague 3 Municipal District. They want to know the number of people living in their apartments and want to see their rental contracts and registration sheets . Both the municipality and the city police warn that these are scammers and warn residents to be careful.

“On the evening of January 25, a man and a woman went around the houses at Táboritská 22, 24 and 26. They claimed to the tenants that they were verifying the number of people in the apartment and wanted them to submit lease agreements and registration forms.” reads the notice that appeared on several entrances to houses in Táboritská street in the territory of Prague 3.
The Prague 3 district learned about the situation on Wednesday evening and immediately reported the actions of the fraudsters to the city police. “In this matter, we received one notification on Wednesday evening. A patrol of constables, who went to check the situation, went through the entire house, but did not find anyone here.” a spokeswoman for the Prague police officers described to our editors Irena Seifertová.

Fraudsters used a fake ID card from Prague 3
Fraudsters legitimized the tenants with a fake identity card of the Prague 3 Municipal District. “Any checks in apartments that are carried out by employees of the municipal district are always announced in advance. We have therefore informed the tenants that in case of unannounced inspections, they should immediately contact the Police of the Czech Republic and not let strangers in.” the spokeswoman of the municipal district stated for the editors of Pražská Drbna Michaela Luňáčková.
The city police also joined in with the warning. “Tenants should be cautious and should keep in mind that all checks, rest and the like should be notified well in advance, information about them can be verified in advance. If you suspect any illegal activity, we recommend that you always contact the emergency line,” Seifert added.
