Former CNB governor Jiří Rusnok will be an advisor to the Allianz board of directors from February

Prague – Jiří Rusnok (62), who left the post of governor of the Czech National Bank (ČNB) last June, will become an advisor to the board of Allianz pojišťovna with effect from February 1, 2023. Allianz informed ČTK about this in a press release.
“Anticipating risks, including macroeconomic ones, and working with them in product and investment strategies is one of the key areas of expertise of our insurance company, which will be significantly strengthened,” said Dušan Quis, chairman of the board of directors of Allianz insurance company.
In his position as an advisor to the board of Allianz pojišťovna, Rusnok will provide expert opinions and consultations on strategic topics. He will also analyze the economic and regulatory environment, represent the company at professional committees and conferences, and provide advice and opposition for key projects.
Prior to his work on the banking board of the CNB, Rusnok held a number of important posts in the government of the Czech Republic, as its chairman and also as minister of finance or minister of industry and trade. For many years he worked in the management of the insurance department of the branch of the ING financial group for the Czechia and Slovakia (now NN). Between 2006 and 2013, he served as Chairman of the Board and CEO of ING PF. He also headed the Association of Pension Funds of the Czech Republic and was also a member of the National Economic Council of the Government (NERV).
Allianz pojišťovna is a wholly owned subsidiary of Allianz New Europe Holding GmbH and part of the world’s leading insurance group Allianz SE. It entered the Czech market in 1993 and during its tenure built its position as one of the three largest Czech insurance companies.
