BD by Ram V and Filipe Andrade comes out this year in Portugal
the comic The Many Deaths of Laila Starrwritten by the Indian author Ram V and designed by the Portuguese Filipe Andrade, it will be published in Portugal, between May and June, revealed to Lusa the publisher G.Floy Studio.
The Many Deaths of Laila Starr (The Many Deaths of Laila Starr, in free translation), was originally published in the United States in a short series of volumes by Boom! Studios and later compiled into a single volume.
The work is a story about life, spirituality and immortality, set in Mumbai, where Death is relegated to the world of the living.
Occupying the body of a young girl, Laila Starr, Death learns that its existence will no longer make sense, because of the birth of a baby who, in the future, will discover immortality.
The comic strip has an original design by Filipe Andrade, who has been working on the international market for foreign publishers for a long time, and color by Inês Amaro.
In addition to having gathered several accolades from specialized critics, The Many Deaths of Laila Starr was nominated for the US Eisner and Harvey Awards and for the 2022 Best Comic Book Award by the Association of Comic Book Critics and Journalists in France.
The Portuguese editorial plan for this semester by the publisher G.Floy Studio – which operates in the Portuguese, Danish and Polish markets – also includes the translation of another title by the North American Boom! Studios, titled “BRZRKB”, co-written by actor Keanu Reeves and screenwriter Matt Kindt, with art by Ron Garney.
