Sparta is already third, Kovář shone again. But we weren’t better, the coach reported
The thirty-four-year-old goalkeeper already picked up his eighteenth victory in. This time he had to make twenty-eight saves, the active opponent threatened especially in the opening third and created several significant opportunities.
“The matches with Boleslav are among the most difficult. Today it was confirmed, it was not easy for us. On the other hand, we were able to score three times, which is definitely positive,” praised Kovář.
He only conceded in the twenty-ninth minute, when he missed Tim Söderlund’s shot. It was the Swedish attacker and the Slovakian cooperation representative Róbert Lantoš that Sparta gave big problems to.
The people of Prague were able to respond to the equalizing goal in just fifty seconds, when Vladimír Sobotka’s hidden shot fell behind Filip Novotný. After the match, both camps identified this moment as one of the key ones.
“Boleslav was moving great the whole time, I was definitely not better. We had to do something to make the game uncomfortable for her. The goal made it 3:1,” said the Spartan coach.
“It’s a shame we didn’t keep the draw longer. But I want to praise the boys because we played a quality game. It had high parameters,” reported Petr Haken, the assistant coach on the visitors’ side.
In front of the cabins, like many of his wards, he did not forget to say hello to Pavel Kousal, who left Bruslar after almost six seasons in exchange for Daniel Přibyl and David Dvořáček.
And in the first meeting with the former seconds, he already made his mark after the twenty-sixth goal, when Tomášek ended up outnumbering two to one.
“It was a bit unusual to start against the boys. They kept yelling at me, but I did the same thing. I wrote a premium in the booth before the match, I’ll have to pay it,” the skilful striker smirked.
He also recorded an assist on the third Spartan goal in the statistics, and collected six points (3+3) in seven starts in his new place. “It wasn’t ideal at first, but it’s better now. I’m getting used to it, the guys are helping me a lot,” he highlighted the contribution of others.
During the evaluation, he also mentioned Boleslav. “Now they started doing well. If they play the same way, they will definitely win some matches. Maybe they combined some events a bit, but when I was there, I did the same thing,” he recounted with a smile.
Thanks to his contribution, the reigning finalists managed the seventeenth out of the last nineteen matches. They jumped to third position in the table, fourth place Třinec is four points behind.
“It’s great that even if we don’t do so well in the match, we can find a way to win,” said Kovář, who has a significant part in improving the game of Prague.
Together with Josef Kořenář, they created one of the best goalkeeper pairs in the extra league. Against Mladá Boleslav, he impressed not only with his concentrated performance, but also with his new equipment.
He had this created for special matches as part of the 14th annual Sparta pays tribute event, during which he honors members of the security and rescue services from the capital.
“Such events often divert attention from hockey itself, usually some things are solved at the last minute. But we managed to do it, moreover, a lot of people came,” he did not forget to mention the support of 15,147 spectators.
Sparta will start their next game on Wednesday, fighting against Litvínov on home ice for the seventh victory in a row.
