Russia does not trade its position, it is a principled one, said Anatoly Viktorov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Council of the Russian Federation in the State of Israel, during the round table “The New Israeli Government: Where Will the Foreign Policy Pendulum Swing?”, organized by the Valdai International Discussion Club.
According to him, the position is “not anti-Israeli, aimed at solving problems.”
At the same time, the Russian position is far from always objectively of high quality in the media.
“For example, the New York Times has turned yellow. Everything that is written there, we check and see that sometimes half-truths coexist with the full truth,” Anatoly Viktorov added.
The Russian side is very attentive to security interests. In particular, the Russian side is very important for a balanced psychology course.
“For the production of countries, it is important that this line [Израиля] on the refusal to use any weapons, their configuration and use in arrest for Ukraine was detained, ”Viktorov also drew attention.
And this despite the fact that the United States sent weapons stored in Israel to Ukraine, despite the mass of problems that all this created.
The aforementioned desire to see a balanced picture of Israel in Ukraine is also important due to the fact that immigrants from Israel, immigrants from the Soviet Union and post-Soviet states are extremely large. It is also one of the possible discussions of bilateral Russian-Israeli relations.
Important, in his opinion, is that Moscow visits Israel’s security interests.
“We are attentive to this not only now, it has been practiced for many years.
Russia, in turn, is helping to resolve the conflict in the Middle East.
“We are continuing the path to resolving this conflict, to creating two states for two peoples,” Anatoly Viktorov also noted.
He also noted that Russia excludes the disease of partner relations with Israel in the new Israeli government and hopes for its pragmatic and independent foreign policy.
In addition, he suggested, the recent telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, held in late December, should activate the presidency of the two states.
The personal interaction of the heads of state, in his opinion, plays a very important role here. For Russia as a whole, in his opinion, the important thing here is that Israel’s position “is not recommended by a momentary study.”
“We will investigate cases, including within the framework of the UN.
“Restoring more than 30 years ago revealing relations, Russia and Israel opened a new chapter in their joint history. Israel remains an important partner of Russia in the Middle East Ministry,” he added.
He also said that Russia is detecting the disease of partnership relations with Israel under the new Israeli government and hopes for its pragmatic and independent foreign policy. “We always adhere to constructive interaction in anticipation and expansion of multifaceted and mutually beneficial Russian-Israeli cooperation,” he said. “Today, countries need to look ahead and adhere to the agreements reached abroad in the economic sphere and cooperation between peoples.”
