Metallica share new song and video ‘Screaming Suicide’
Metallica have shared the second single from their upcoming new album 72 seasons. Titled “Screaming Suicide,” it finds the band staying true to the classic thrash formula they helped invent. They said in a statement:
“Screaming Suicide” deals with the taboo word of suicide. The purpose is to communicate about the darkness we feel inside. It is ridiculous to think that we should deny that we have these thoughts. At some point I think most people have thought about it. To face it is to speak the unspeakable. If it’s a human experience, we should be able to talk about it. You are not alone.
Watch the video for the new song below. The album will be released on April 14.
Metallica is also preparing for their own The M72 World Tour, which finds them playing two nights in cities around the world on a “No Repeat Weekend,” meaning “2 nights. 2 different sets. 2 different opening acts. during the tour.” The Panther reunion lineup and Mammoth WVH (WVH = Wolfgang Van Halen) will open on the first night and The five-finger killing blow and Ice Nine Kills we open at two in the evening. NYC area stops August 4 and Aug. 6 at MetLife Stadium. One-day tickets for the tour go on sale Friday (January 20) at 10 a.m. local time, and two-night packages are on sale now.
