20/01/2023 Jakub Houžvička
With two assists, Michal Kempný helped Sparta to a 5:3 victory in front of a packed O2 arena in the derby against Kometa from Brno. “The atmosphere was great, we are very happy that people are hungry for hockey and that they come to support us, every game we want to make them happy for that. I hope that I will continue to go and have fun with our hockey,” said the thirty-two-year-old defenseman after the match, among other things.
How important is the victory for you after such a tight finish?
Very important. We didn’t play very well, so we value this win all the more. We didn’t start at all the way we wanted, then the whole match was such a drag, luckily with a happy ending for us.
The match was similar to the last one with České Budějovice, a slower start to the match and a subsequent active second period.
In the first period, it wasn’t very good, then of course we talked to each other and started to ride our legs a little more. In connection with better movement, we won more pucks even in the offensive zone, which is very important for our style of hockey. But as I say, today we were not at the level we want to play.
Even so, we managed to grab all three bodies, does this show our strength and self-confidence gained from the last period?
It is a very important victory for the confidence of the team, even if we did not play the game as we would have imagined. Three points are very important to us and we value these points all the more.
How about the atmosphere? You were driven by the packed O2 arena, more than twelve thousand people.
She was, we are very happy that people are very hungry for hockey and that they come to support us, every match we try to make them happy. I hope to continue to go and enjoy our hockey.
