Burning Ghost Train: A train in flames arrives in Freilassing
A burning train drove into Freilassing last night. The fire brigade was just about to extinguish the already driverless train when it suddenly started to move. He was finally stopped and extinguished by a buffer stop.
BAVARIA/SALZBURG. In Bavaria, which was contained, there was a different kind of extinguishing operation in the night from Thursday to Friday. When the fire brigades from Ainring, Teisendorf, Weildorf, Bad Reichenhall and Freilassing were about to extinguish the burning vehicle at 3 a.m., it suddenly rolled on . The train could then be diverted and stopped east of Freilassing station. The firefighting continued until 9 a.m.
“There’s a train going nowhere”
With these words, the Freilassing volunteer fire brigade published their mission report on the burning train in Freilassing on Facebook. Around 3 a.m., several fire brigades were in the process of extinguishing a burning locomotive on the Freilassing – Munich railway line. This was already unmanned at the time. Suddenly, the train started moving and continued on its own in the direction of Freilassing. The emergency services immediately take up the pursuit. By setting the appropriate points on the railway line, the driverless railway construction machine could be diverted to a siding east of Freilassing station and stopped there by a buffer stop.
Time-consuming extinguishing operation
After the stubborn train was stopped, the emergency services in Freilassing continued with the extinguishing. After the overhead line was disconnected and grounded, targeted extinguishing measures could be taken, which quickly proved successful. The fire brigades from Ainring, Weildorf and Freilassing as well as the district fire inspection, the THW technical adviser, the Red Cross and the federal and state police were at the scene. According to the Freilassing fire brigade, the operation ended at around 9 a.m.
