The Teruel Provincial Council wants to attract investment by showing in Madrid the strengths of the province as a tourist destination
The Teruel Provincial Council (DPT) has held, this Thursday, the destination event #SienteTeruel in a central hotel in Madrid, within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2023. The objective has been to attract investments by publicizing the strengths of the province as a tourist destination, now reinforced with new sustainable projects that are going to be carried out thanks to the help of European funds, such as the “Come to Teruel” of the province institution itself or the tourism sustainability plans of the regions from Andorra Sierra de Arcos, Gúdar Javalambre, Maestrazgo or Matarraña.
They have confirmed their half-centenary attendance of representatives of agencies, associations, lobbies and companies from different sectors related to tourism, such as the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE), the Spanish Wine Tourism Association or Segittur, the State Society Spanish dedicated to the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies. In fact, the guests have taken the floor during the act in two expert tables in which they have given their opinion and offered their advice on what they have heard and seen throughout the act.
Thus, for example, the writer, businesswoman and business advisor, Pilar Gómez Acebo, has taken the floor, who has advocated the creation of temporary business unions to join forces for tourism activities and with the aim of avoiding the inconveniences of seasonality. Andy Stalman, an expert in brands and branding, has also participated, who has explained that 9 out of 10 brands could disappear every day without anyone noticing, for this reason he has advised creating long-term images, with genuine value and courage, that practice really sustainability, and has praised the commitment to “the feel” of the DPT “which focuses on the human-centric”. In addition, María Jesús Gualda, president of the Lidia Livestock Association, has also spoken, who has highlighted the importance of tourism “of sensations” such as “feeling like a rancher, a cowboy, sharing the day to day of those who live in the field or in the rural environment.
The president of the Teruel Provincial Council, Manuel Rando, and the Tourism deputy Diego Piñeiro, have thanked all the attendees, as their hosts, for their presence and interest in getting to know the province better. In his speech, the president highlighted “the importance of continuing to invest and improve the tourism sector” and pointed out that the professionals who attended the event “have made it clear to us that we are on the right path to attract visitors, putting the emphasis on the emotion and sensation that the tourist resources of our territory undoubtedly provoke”. In addition, he has congratulated himself on the possibility of carrying out new projects in the province thanks to the funds from the Recovery Plan of the European Union.
Deputy Piñeiro has focused on his intervention on the DPT project “Come to Teruel”, which aims to promote the creation of a renewed, sustainable and feminine business ecosystem, always taking advantage of our endogenous resources. He explained that, through the different lines of action covered by this initiative, the provincial institution intends to “value all the potential of the province to attract new tourism investment, promote training in the most demanded professional profiles and promote healthy habits , as well as the promotion of equal opportunities in rural areas”.
Tourism sustainability plans
The presidents and president of the Andorra Sierra de Arcos, Gúdar Javalambre, Matarraña and Maestrazgo regions, have been part of the round table “The regions of Teruel as a key to sustainable territorial development”, where they have announced the sustainable tourism projects that will to develop in its territory with European funds.
The president of the Andorra Sierra de Arcos Region, Marta Sancho, has explained her “Health and well-being” plan aimed at creating a series of ornithological routes where you can enjoy bird watching and wildlife photography. In addition, she has indicated that she will also carry out an improvement plan to consolidate the Silent Route and, another, to condition the vicinity of the Olivar Monastery, two of the main tourist attractions in the Region.
For his part, Ángel Gracia, president of the Gúdar Javalambre Region, said that the project seeks to combine nature and sport, with special emphasis on cycling. To do this, they start from a network of trails and paths converted into bicycle circuits, now they want to provide electric bicycles and place charging points. In addition, they want to value the Mijares river basin, which enhances the environmental values that the Region boasts.
Regarding the Matarraña Region, President Isel Monclús has indicated that they are focused on improving relations between the neighbor of the territory and the visitor, deepening the quality mark that the territory already exhibits. Among the aspects to be improved are the flow of visitors or the security of the sites.
Lastly, in the Maestrazgo a project will be developed for the enhancement of its landscapes and heritage, also placing the accent on agri-food products. President Roberto Rabaza has indicated that the Region wants to promote nature and the elements that have been preserved from the past, which is not only genuine but also very attractive to the visitor.
An event full of flavor
The main resources of the territory have also been promoted at the #SienteTeruel event. To begin with, it has had the collaboration of the Association of Truffle Growers of the Province of Teruel, Atruter, to hold a workshop on black truffles.
In the workshop, attendees have been able to learn first-hand about this product, considered the ‘black gold’ of the province of Teruel and an important tractor resource, recognizing and experiencing its organoleptic qualities, through the only truffle tasting panel in the world .
The event has concluded with a tasting of kilometer 0 products such as Teruel ham, different cheeses or saffron, in a tasting paired with wine and set with a musical performance with a Turolense label by Carolina Ferrer, Jesús Bellosta and Francho Gallego.
