Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussain met Swiss Foreign Minister Ignace Cassis on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Davos conference.
Minister Hussain stressed that Iraq has a role to play in bringing together the perspectives of some regional countries with the aim of creating a stable environment in the region.
The two ministers also discussed reopening the Swiss embassy in Baghdad as a starting point to attract Swiss investment and business to Iraq.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister emphasized how important it is to learn from Swiss experiences in dealing with diversity and to reflect this in democratic processes. He also touched on the Swiss “Blue Peace” initiative and how Swiss support can benefit from it.
The Swiss Foreign Minister thanked for the meeting and reiterated his support for the reopening of the Swiss embassy.
