S. Olberkis returned to Lithuania Sportas.lt
Today, on January 19, another former student of the academy officially joined the ranks of FA Šiauliai. He returned to Šiauliai after competing in Sweden Sigit Olberki.
Sigitas, who started his career as a 207-year-old legionnaire1, returned to the city of the sun from the second-highest Swedish football league, where he represented the Dalkurd team from Burlengė. The footballer from Pakruoj, in the latter ranks, stepped onto the field a total of 9 times.
The 4th rookie of the team, who plays in the position of central defender, has previously played in several clubs of the highest football league of the country. Pakruojietis has represented such teams as Pakruoj “Kruoja”, Šiauliai “Šiauliai”, Panevėžys “Panevėžys” and Vilnius “Žalgiris”, moreover, the latter has been a legionnaire’s bread for many years. S. Olberkis, who wears the number 4 shirt, played in the Belarusian “Dnepr”, Latvian “Jelgava”, Maltese “Senglea Athletics”, Irish “Sligo Rovers” and Estonian “TJK Legion” teams.
The footballer has also represented the Lithuanian boys’ under-21 national team, with which he won the Baltic Cup. The latter wore the shirt representing Lithuania at that time together with other members of the team from Šiauliai – Daniel Romanovskij, Dominykas Kubilinskas, Eligijs Jankauskas and Rimvydas Sadauskas.
“The first thoughts after returning to Šiauliai are positive. I can finally start working with the team, I can’t wait to join the team as soon as possible.
Due to certain circumstances regarding my further future, I had to consider what is best for my career at this time. After receiving attention from the academy managers and coach Mindaugas, I decided to return to Šiauliai.
I remember a lot from the period in Šiauliai – there was everything, laughter, joy and tears. I value this period particularly positively, it was the start of my football and the school where I received a lot of lessons in both football and life. For this, I would like to thank the coaches and staff who worked together. The Academy has changed and grown a lot as an organization, it’s great to see how it is moving towards its goal and improving every day.
One of the main things that turned my head before signing the contract with Šiauliai was the team itself and its composition. I knew that the team is really fun, and the most important thing is united, you could see that last season as well. I know most of the team’s footballers from before, because I had to compete with them at previous career stops. The staff can also be seen to be ambitious and demand the maximum from the guys in this team, and Algis Jankauskas’ individual lessons when competing in my position, I hope, will soon become a daily routine (smiles).
The goals are realistic – to fit into the team, compete a lot and help the team grow as much as possible, satisfy your ambitions and get closer to your goals.
I would like to wish the fans of the Solar City team patience when the team is not successful or does not achieve a positive result and stability. I can’t wait to see everyone in the match, because they are the only ones who bring the team significantly closer to victory, and for the city to not stop working in a direction beneficial to this sport!”, said S. Olberkis after returning to Šiauliai.
