A69: 100 farmers against 100 entrepreneurs
The communication battle continues between pro and anti motorway between Castres and Toulouse. While the prefects of Tarn and Haute-Garonne await the opinion of the last public inquiry which has just ended before giving the green light to the start of work on the A 69 scheduled for March, everyone is advancing their last pawns.
The economic actors who have been campaigning for decades to obtain this “vital” opening up for them have split a page of advertising in which “100 business leaders say yes to the A69”. One hundred entrepreneurs from Tarn have signed this forum to affirm that “the A69 will improve the safety of our employees and their families, energize our companies and attract new ones and help create jobs today and tomorrow”. And if they say “yes” to the A69 it is also “because it takes into account environmental issues and it is easier to say no when you live near a metropolis”. A final argument which clearly targets some of the opponents who reside in the southern Tarn towns bordering Haute-Garonne.
The response from the shepherd to the shepherdess was not long in coming. “The way is free”, the collective allied with the motorway, sent to the press an open letter signed by 100 farmers and holders of agricultural land who denounce a project which symbolizes “ignorance and the total absence of consideration for the foundations of agriculture, a spiral of artificialization in defiance of the water cycle and our food sovereignty. “Faced with a few entrepreneurs who only have promises of positive declarations in the distant future, 100 farmers have certainty of negative effects in the immediate future”, affirms La Voie est libre.
