Venice, brawl at the Doge’s Palace: spits and punches fly between two tourists
Everything tourists who have traveled the world to visit could expect Doge’s Palace in Veniceexcept to witness the furious quarrel and the beatings that broke out between two foreign visitors who at 1.30pm on 17 January gave each other a thrashing. One French and the other Spanish i involved. When I arrived at the Hall of the Great Council on the first floor, the spitting, shoving and beatings started, so much so that not even the guardians were able to stop them, and they had to intervene law enforcement. This was necessary above all to prevent the escape of one of the two, or the one who would have caused the fight, who tried to quickly reach the exit to slip away undisturbed.
No damaged works
The managers of the Civic Museums have alerted the police forces e the tourist was instead blocked: in the afternoon he had to give an account of what happened in that room, a place of art and culture of inestimable value for the world, where once the assemblies of the most important judiciary of the Venetian state were held and the election of the Doge. Just a case that nothing around was bumped or touched in the course of the beating. Unease, disbelief and embarrassment between staff and guests, and even a little for the works by Veronese, Jacopo and Domenico Tintoretto, Palma il Giovane, for a moment you become the setting for shouts, offenses and a beating. The dining room staff and the security manager intervened and the matter was resolved in a short time.
The intervention of the Foundation
The two people would come to blows over an argument with each other, regardless of the context they were visiting. The police took steps to clarify the facts between the two interested parties, who were then made to sit outside the Doge’s Palace. Sorry for the visitors who had to witness the scene, the Museum staff immediately and promptly intervened to ensure that the unpleasant story was concluded in the shortest possible time, offering support to the two contenders, reads the note sent by the Fondazione Musei civici. The Sala del Maggior Consiglio, 52.70 meters long, 24.66 wide and 11.5 high, is the largest in the Ducal Palace, with over 1,250 square meters of floor. Perhaps even at the time of the Serenissima there was no shortage of heated discussions, but never a brawl like yesterday’s.
