While the rain has been falling since the beginning of the week in Haute-Garonne, the prefecture of Upper Garonne announcement, Tuesday, January 17, 2023, that a sector of the department is going into flood watch.
The Sava valley under surveillance
This is the section of the Savewest of the department, which is concerned.
It’s a yellow vigilance notice which was issued on the Gimone-Save section by the flood forecasting service.
The municipalities concerned are: Daux, Grenade, Larra, Lasserre-Pradère, Le Castéra, Lévignac, Menville, Merville, Montaigut-sur-Save, Ondes, Saint-Paul-sur-Save, Sainte-Livrade.

“The rains expected in the sector of the Gimone – Save section have caused a rise in water levels on the Gimone. Depending on the amount of rain to come, localized overflows could be observed in the Gimont sector from Tuesday at midday, indicates the prefecture of Haute-Garonne in a press release.
“Rapid Rising Waters”
As a reminder, yellow vigilance represents the “risk of floods generating overflows and localized damage or rapid and dangerous rise in water levels requiring particular vigilance, particularly in the case of exposed and/or seasonal activities”.
