About fifty tractors gathered this Tuesday morning in front of the administrative city of Toulouse. Coming from the four corners of the department, the Young Farmers are protesting against the end of the derogation on the clay zone and the modification of certain zonings. They organized snail operations on the ring road.

“Currently, we are classified as a vulnerable zone, which imposes constraints: the establishment of plant cover on certain crops, and the impossibility of working on our land before November 1. Fortunately, we benefit from an exemption which allows us not to be subject to it, ”explains Thomas Klunker, co-secretary general within the Young Farmers of Haute-Garonne.
This risk is likely to disappear: the clay content of the soil required to benefit from it is 25%, or, this rate will now be set at 37%, most farmers will no longer be eligible.

Hundreds of farmers

In front of the administrative city, they are a hundred to demonstrate, with the deafening noise of the cannons.

Among the agricultural machinery parked on Boulevard Lascrosses, there are many dumpsters. Rotten hay, tires, silage or other agricultural waste are stored there. This year, no manure “because this year it’s worth gold with the rise in the price of fertilizer” explains a farmer.
