Kindergarten and lower school open day at the Debrecen International School
The International School of Debrecen (ISD) is in its fourth year, and it is always a question mark for many as to what really makes this institution different from a Hungarian public school. The parent who decides that this is the case for their child is to vote their confidence in an education of which there are few examples in Hungary, and a unique system in Eastern Hungary. That parent believes that education must also change.
In 2022, young people who have recently graduated from high school will face expectations that no one told them about during their studies: How to work effectively with others? With people who have different thinking and opinions, different strengths and weaknesses. Find the error in the system or make a process. Give a presentation to your colleagues. Don’t stop when you’ve learned your job, but develop yourself, discover something new. State your opinion supported by facts, convince others within the framework of a cultured debate. How do you start a business and what do you need to be successful?
In short: ISD is different in that the teachers look for answers to questions related to real life with the students. From preschool age to high school graduation, according to the child’s age, he develops the skills that the listed expectations will be natural and usual tasks for young people. The curriculum and instructors guide students to be good at what they are good at, all while discovering their strengths themselves. They make them aware that they learn for themselves, that they are responsible for their own development.
“What you hear you forget, what you see you remember, what you do you learn”, says Confucius. As long as a student does not see the meaning of the material to be learned and how he can use it in his life, the knowledge will be forgotten in a very short time and the much invested work will be wasted.
A parent also had many other questions about this new school. These questions can be asked at the ISD open day on January 21st, where kindergarteners can participate in an exploratory game and lower school students can participate in a common presentation lesson. If you’re curious about the details, that is at the link below you will find all the information and registration options necessary to participate.
