INFO THE DISPATCH. Near Toulouse, a caregiver suspected of violence against three retirees from an nursing home
A 48-year-old caregiver was laid off by the managers of the “Les jardins de Maniban” retirement home in Blagnac, near Toulouse. This woman is suspected of having raped at least three residents of the establishment. Management immediately fired her and the national police are investigating.
Night has just fallen. A nurse enters the room of a patient, dozing in her bed. She takes advantage of this camera to take her “revenge”. First, the employee of this retirement home located in Blagnac, near Toulouse, forcibly places a glove in the mouth of this elderly person to prevent her from crying. Then she pours water on her naked body. It doesn’t take long for the cold liquid to spill onto sheets that are already dirty and filled with feces. But the nurse’s aide doesn’t blink. She is content to look at this 92-year-old resident, without expressing the slightest empathy… This nightmare is very real.
Complaints filed
Between September and December 2022, this 48-year-old woman, a member of the nursing staff at the medicalized retirement home, “Edenis, Les Jardins de Maniban”, is suspected of having increased violence and acts of trouble. She worked in the night shifts. At least two complaints have been filed with the police station by the family of a resident of the establishment and the management.
“I placed my mother, Gisèle (1), in this retirement home in October 2022. Initially, as we pay €3,800 per month, I thought everything was going to be fine. But I quickly became disillusioned,” confides Céline, her daughter.
On December 23, when she finds her mother, the latter does not mince her words. “The nurses are mean, I had to fight with one of them,” the 92-year-old told her daughter.
First surprised then shocked by the words spoken by her mother, Céline approaches the management to ask for an explanation. She is received a few days later and understands that she is not the only victim. In essence, the managers of the structure confided to him that they had doubts about the behavior of one of their employees.
In September, this caregiver had already been accused of having kicked a man when he had just fallen to the ground, next to his bed.
On December 23, she would then have attacked Gisèle, accusing her of having defecated next to the toilet. “This woman would have first yelled at him, before sticking a glove in his mouth. Then she would have sprayed it while my mother was already in bed. According to a witness, the fecal matter had not been cleaned,” says Céline.
Four days later, on December 27, the suspect would have again exceeded the limits by abandoning a patient in lack of oxygen. This same patient had to be hospitalized the same evening. Three facts that leave little room for doubt.
Management reacts immediately
Following the first reports, the management of the establishment filed a complaint against its employee, whom it immediately dismissed. “We had to act quickly. The priority is to get our 82 residents to safety. We are never safe but by remaining vigilant, we limit the risks”, confides one of the spokespersons of the “Jardins de Maniban”.
Céline also went to the police station to denounce the facts. Were there other victims? To date, the investigation by law enforcement has only just begun. “I hope that the police will act quickly to prevent her from finding work elsewhere,” says Gisèle’s daughter, terribly worried.
