Toulouse: Resuming sport under electrodes
To get back in shape in a short time, the solution is electrofitness at Studio 12 in downtown Toulouse. In addition, the muscles are stimulated, without the need for weight on the body, simply by being equipped with a suit with electrodes.
Doing an effective sports session in just 20 minutes seems ambitious. But that’s what Arnaud Vergez offers at Studio 12, a few steps from the Jean Jaurés metro station. It is possible because this studio specializes in electrostimulation. This new mode of fitness involves classic gym sessions but with a suit equipped with electrodes that stimulate the muscles. “The electrodes simulate muscle contractions. Even the muscles that are difficult to work, the suit will pick them up,” explains Arnaud Vergez.
Everyone at their own pace
Participants are equipped with a vest, stockings and armbands so that 300 muscles can be stimulated. This new discipline has been booming since its arrival in France 8 years ago. Arnaud Vergez touts it as an alternative to traditional gyms, where physical condition doesn’t matter. “My oldest client is 72 years old. I also have a former soldier with a prosthetic knee who had difficulty walking. After a few sessions, she was able to get back to hiking. “, he says. On predefined appointments with a coach, each one a personalized and progressive follow-up according to his rhythm and his objectives. The coach controls the intensity of the waves emitted by the electrodes from a tablet. “It’s sufficient, but not overwhelming, it feels good. They adapt to the desired level”, describes Pierre, out of breath from his session. “Generally the feedback I get is from people feeling better. They perform better and injure themselves less”, assures Arnaud Vergez.
Avoid injury
To recover well, only one or two sessions per week are recommended. The price starts at 36 euros per session. The online appointment price will soon be available for even more athletes to discover.
