Brest Stadium. Kenny Lala qualified for Monaco, a “big question” for Bruno Grougi – Stade Brestois
Ligue 1. Monaco – Stade Brestois, Sunday January 1 (3 p.m.)
Kenny Lala has already worn the Stade Brestois jersey in friendly matches against Rennes and Osasuna. But to be aligned in competition, the side must still wait. Until when ? “That’s the big question,” sighs Bruno Grougi, interim co-coach of Stade Brestois. “We hope he will qualify against Monaco (Sunday January 1)”, continues his counterpart Julien Lachuer.
The transfer window opens on January 1 at midnight. Brest face Monaco at 3 p.m. And in addition, this holiday falls on a Sunday. “We are going to work, we hope they will also work in the offices”, smiles Bruno Grougi. The situation is unprecedented. But according to a well-applied agent, the former Strasbourg player could well be qualified, even at the last minute: “I think there will be someone in the League who will be responsible for pressing the button on Sunday”.
“The FFF and the LFP are generally reactive”
For this, everything must have been planned in advance. Stade Brestois has had time to organize itself: Lala terminated his contract with Olympiakos at the end of October and has been training with Brest since December 6. “They had to alert everyone so that everything was ready, pursue this connoisseur of the European transfer window. The French Federation and the LFP are, in general, reactive. This is not always the case for foreign Federations…”
There is therefore a “but”, supported by a second agent, also in doubt: “Even if he signs at midnight, it takes, unless I am mistaken, 24 hours for the qualification to be effective”, indicates the latter.
