State Security Service recommends not to travel to Russia and Belarus for Christmas and New Year

The State Security Service repeats that representatives of the special services of countries most often apply and complete the registration of Latvians precisely on their territory.
The first contact most often takes place at the border, when the representatives of the special services themselves can control the border guards, but they also pretend to be other law enforcement agencies or municipal institutions of any other country.
Therefore, the State Security Service recommends increasing the latency in contacts with public and Belarusian private and municipal institutions, as well as with persons working in state institutions and universities, and in institutes and in the field of high technologies.
Earlier, the State Security Service noted that it is typical for the Russian special services to use so-called “seconded officers” who work under the guise of the mentioned institutions.
Due to the high risk of developments in Russia, due to the high risk of developments in Russia or Belarus, Suspicious cases were identified if increased checks and interrogations were detected at border crossings or during observation in these countries, and also if there was obtained access to human supervisory organs.
