Limited loss in Amsterdam, on behalf of Unibail-Rodamco
(ABM FN-Dow Jones) The Amsterdam stock exchange managed to die the loss on Tuesday. Around eleven o’clock the AEX was 0.3 percent lower at 698.87 points. The index opened at 694 points.
There was not much directional news this morning. Figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics showed that the Dutch consumer is slightly less pessimistic and that more was spent in October. Investments also increased.
It also appears in Germany that the downward trend in producer prices is continuing. On a monthly basis, prices fell 3.9 percent in November.
The biggest surprise today came from Japan, where the central bank acted. Interest rates were maintained, but the Bank of Japan decided that long-term Japanese government bonds would be bought at a maximum yield of 0.50 percent, where it had previously been 0.25 percent.
According to market analyst Stefan Koopman of Rabobank, this is also a first prelude to a replacement action in the spring of 2023, when chairman Kuroda leaves.
The euro/dollar was trading at 1.0623, but most of the movement was seen in the yen by the Bank of Japan. The Japanese currency rose about 3 percent against the euro and dollar.
Oil became one percent more expensive.
Risers and fallers
The leader in the AEX was ING with a share price gain of one percent.
Ahold Delhaize and ArcelorMittal rose more than half a percent.
Philips and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield were the biggest fallers with a loss of more than 2 and 4 percent.
In the AMX Fugro showed a small recovery of half a percent, after the price drop on Monday.
Eurocommercial Properties, Just Eat Takeaway and OCI fell 2 to 2.5 percent.
Smallcap Sif gained 1.5 percent, while Fastned lost 3.5 percent. Van Lanschot Kempen paid almost 7 percent. Van Lanschot will pay out 1.50 euros per share on 22 December. Today is the ex-date.
