The Russian Federation does not need a conventional war in Moldova. He has a lot of influence money here unfortunately (Secret Service)
The Russian war in Ukraine remains the main risk to the security of the Republic of Moldova, said the director of SIS, Alexandru Musteata. He said in an interview at Radio Chisinau that the energy sector is one of the most vulnerable at present. At the same time, the head of the SIS warned, the Republic of Moldova is very exposed to the hybrid war waged by the Russian Federation.
“The war remains the main risk, because it is a conventional war, with weapons, with missiles, munitions that fly and, unfortunately, also fall on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, and this is beyond our control. When some missiles fall and explode on our territory, or just transit, there is only one point of responsibility – that of the Russian Federation, because it initiated the war and is guilty of this. War, unfortunately, remains one of the main security risks. However, the war also has some collateral effects: economic, energetic, social, including socio-political aspects. We see the risks of this war, materialized”, said the head of the Intelligence and Security Service of Moldova.
He warned that the country’s energy sector is one of the most vulnerable at the moment.
On the other hand, Musteață said, the hybrid war intensified “very much, on several levels, starting from the informational one, an extraordinarily aggressive and widely used one: manipulation, fakes with a very high intensity.”
“At the same time the activation of what we call influence. There are people from the socio-political sector who seek to influence public opinion by using those fakes and manipulations. From what we know and already know, we see how everything is coordinated from one center, from Moscow. When all these things are coordinated from a single center, we do not realize that it is a hybrid war waged on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. Therefore, the Russian Federation does not need a conventional war here. It has a lot of influence, unfortunately, which we have taken care of, we know a good part of them and we work to prevent and counter these risks in our territory”, said Musteață.
