The prosecutor’s office is suing the interior minister for a Russophile procession in Sofia – Bulgaria
The Supreme Administrative Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) announced that it has referred the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Demerdzhiev, in connection with information received from the Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova. It states that the Municipality of Sofia was approached with two letters – by the municipal councilors from the group of “Democratic Bulgaria” and
by representatives of the PP “Code” for holding a mass event announced on social networks on December 10, 2022 (Saturday), which may be “aimed at a violent change of the constitutional order and
the country’s territorial integrity”, as well as that the event may be “contrary to EU decisions”.
On Thursday (December 8), from the group of “Democratic Bulgaria”, the Municipal Council announced that it had received disturbing information that a “rally in support of Russia” was planned, which would turn into a “celebratory civil procession” under the title “We do not we are neutral! We are for Russia! Victory is ours!”. Councilors called on Fandakova to ban the procession, but it is not known that such a decision was made. The event, scheduled for 1 p.m., is organized by a Facebook group entitled “Civil Initiative for the Sovereignty of Bulgaria and Now in the World”. The announcement calls for the lifting of European sanctions against Russia.
The Supreme Appellate Prosecutor’s Office has carried out an inspection regarding the information presented in the letter from the Mayor of Sofia and the attached photographic material. The information was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in accordance with the legal provisions for its activities aimed at the rights and freedoms of citizens, combating crime, protecting national security, observing public order and fire safety and protecting the population.
